Yes, prior to Nov. 5th 2026 you should be able to make it to gold with the old criteria. Since reaching gold sets your renewal date, this would then be before Nov. 5th, so it should work.

I'm not sure what you mean by running Platinum "parallel" to Gold; Platinum is a new level above Gold. Just like you can move up from Blue to Silver and up from Silver to Gold, in future people will be able to move up from Gold to Platinum. You're moving up (or down) a single-spine ladder; there is no parallelism involved.
Except I never actually called going from platinum to silver a "soft landing"!

I also assumed it would go from platinum to gold, but since no official info has been provided, I just considered the thought of the platinum being "uncoupled" from the regular tier progression. The wording is "upgrade to platinum", but there's still not a clear indication, that you have to have been gold in the first place (this will 99,9% be mentioned in the T&Cs, whenever they get updated to include platinum, which they still don't).

Must correct this, free standard seat selection was from Flex and above, so I guess golds can now select any standard seat even when booking light.... Which is exactly what every single member was able to do for free anyway up to 1-2 years ago, when Aegean went FR on that .
