When things dont go to plan.....winners and losers will need to be chosen....sadly skywest flight from SAN will lose most of the time. Its just like when i fly to LAX .... we sit for a long time to get a gate......
unfortunate....but it happens very frequently.....
I still dont think SAN is a good pick for a hub for AS....its extremely constrained in terms of capacity as it is.....taxi times exceed 30 minutes every day ....upwards of an hour at busy times.....chosing to go all in on a single runway airport and create more terminal space for a runway that cant handle the extra capacity because of basic physics seems unwise. SAN needed to move to where it can handle the capacity it wants due to its metro size.....i think you will see some regrets in about 2-5 years or real exploration of a second SAN metro airport.
So these delays will ripple through the system.....and cause havoc with AS schedules.....we will see if it was wise to try and funnel Bay Area traffic through SAN to any points east.....
What?! Those taxi times are not grounded in reality.
The Port tried to find a new location, but came up with the most asinine options imaginable and put forth an option to voters that was DOA.
Look, I get it, SFO flyers are bummed they are losing direct flights, but don't just make stuff up.
