I don’t really issue auth user cards to anyone other than my wife (and one nephew, but he never got the physical card from me). I keep the info for all Auth User cards in my password manager (1Password) together with my own cards, so I always have access to that info.
Not having the physical card works fine for booking tickets and the bag benefit, but if your nephew likes fancy cocktails he's going to need card-in-hand to get the Summit cocktail in the lounge. Mrs thabc learned this while her card was still in the mail, despite having access to all the other benefits.
