My whole issue with the cap is that it is inconsistent with UA's stated method for valuing customers -- "we value / reward those that spend more." If I spend $12k on a ticket (I'm doing that in a few weeks) I get 75k miles -- If I spend $8k I get 75k miles. According to UA I should be $4k more valuable to them -- but since the RDM are the only "currency" provided -- or proof of value -- it seems inconsistent.
This is why I almost always book two one ways -- unfortunately for my next trip to London that was too expensive...
