A minor change to my flights was made which simply meant a longer connection in Singapore and with no expectations I asked if there was any chance as a result to change my connection to an earlier flight. from Singapore. I was pleasantly surprised that they agreed and the representative even apologised that he had to change my reserved seat from 12K to 14K. I was delighted but had they said no I would not have been upset as I know I had bought ticket which did not entitle me to change it

For me it’s just a bit of a hassle since the already early flight got made even earlier, so I’ll probably have to take a taxi instead of catching the first public transport as it might be cutting it too close now. Not a huge deal, but still inconvenient.
I guess I got a bit too encouraged by all the earlier DPs where people seemed to get the change without any issue, so it was a bit disappointing to hit a dead end with SIA. I just expected them to be a bit more consistent, especially with how often these one-time changes seem to be granted.
There’s still plenty of revenue availability on the flight I wanted — just not award space so it appears I can only change if there is award availability, just like any other booking with no schedule change.
Would love to hear any recent DPs from others in a similar situation — whether SIA allowed a change (or didn’t). It’d be great to get a sense of how they’re handling these cases now.
