Flying OGG-ORD-BOS-EWR-PWM on a JN award and would like to change to OGG-ORD-PWM. Rates desk says this will cost an extra 200k miles per ticket (I think it's counting that as a stopover given next PWM flight is >4 hours). If I wait until 24 hours before OGG departure, and JN/J are available at that time, can I SDC to the ORD-PWM nonstop? Not sure this would be possible as it would exceed the 4 hour stopover fare rule.
You can try as early as 24 hours prior to the ORD-PWM flight, but realistically I suspect it won’t work until after you’ve departed OGG, at the earliest. An agent may be willing to do it for you in person at ORD if the app doesn’t allow it. If you have checked bags, the app won’t allow it and an agent may kvetch, but since you’ll be well in advance of the PWM flight the policy allows SDC even with checked luggage.
