I have no inside knowledge, but we have seen BA pick up on all the other trends in the reward sphere so many regard it as inevitable.
It may need some more harmonisation of the reward systems of all the airlines in the Avios ecosystem though, so perhaps the poor IT is working in our favour to delay this.
