I would reply back that again the flight in question was LHR-CLT, so EU261 terms do not apply, and ask again for UK261 downgrade compensation of which AA is clearly liable based on XYZ (copy/paste terms from the UK261 website and give them a link).
I took your advice and requested UK261 and posted a link to and the text from the CAA website.
The irony here is it is a one way non stop flight, it is not like there is a complex calculation. AA have acknowledged I was downgraded from LHR to CLT due to an aircraft swap. They are not disputing the facts of the case, just the amount of compensation due.
