After my last LHR - MAN experience I was going to take the train but the £624 open return ticket price put me off. It made BA at £500 (CE) look cheap. I really should have known better. What a complete fiasco; yet again the arrival process at Manchester Airport T2 was a disgrace. I wrote to BA a week ago not imagining it would be as bad on my next trip but BA and Manchester Airport management need to get in a room and sort this out.
Spending £500 for a 30 minute business class flight with pre-arranged meetings planned, and then being time travelled back to how airline travel used to be 30 years ago is not acceptable. As before, the flight was perfect. At Manchester it was a very long taxi to the gate after they found a ‘follow me’ vehicle and then another 10 minute wait to be told that the jetty would not be connected at the front door and we would all have to alight from the back. I guess Menzies could not be bothered. Being in 1C made that really convenient and neutralized the benefit of being Group 0 at Heathrow (which was executed perfectly)! And then, as we were the last four passengers off the aircraft and descending the steps (in the rain), we were told to stop because the only bus they had sent was full and we’d have to wait - in the rain on the steps. We persuaded the ground agent that he needed to think again and we eventually all squeezed on board. Insult to injury, after the drive to the door to the exit route we then had to wait 10 minutes to disembark the bus for reasons I could not understand. So, for my £500 return air fare I got a 30 minute flight and then 40 minutes of delay getting land side caused by MANs ineptitude at the other end. How much longer can BA let this go on? I guess in BA World the answer is forever because they really don’t seem engaged with the repetitive sh**. show we experience. I am flying back tonight and can’t wait to see how that works out. I have lodged the obvious complaint and pointed out to them that BA needs to get a grip of this issue. I await the AI generated email showing the prospects of that happening at zero. I just think that having previously been challenging when travelling from T3, arriving was always simple. Now, however, the Manchester service is just insulting..
