The flights must be credited to the Atmos account of the person buying the ticket. So if the AU is the only cardholder traveling, they can't credit to another program if they want the benefit.

I'm an eligible cardholder, but I want to credit my flight points to another program.
In order to qualify for the first checked bag free benefit, you must credit your flight points to Atmos™ Rewards. Companions traveling with the cardholder may credit flight points to other programs.
I have a bunch of family members. Auth user cards are free. I can give them all cards for free bags and other small benefits (IE: trip delay). First, I wanted to see if I need to get a card for every family member.
Second, I wanted to determine if I needed to track down their card # when booking their travel, sometimes it's not at hand

Third, if they book their own travel I wanted to make sure they could use their own auth user card and not ask for the primary's. When there's 5-10 cards in play, it becomes disorganized vs the old system where simply being a cardholder was sufficient.

Then there's a fourth case where they already have their own (different account) atmos card and I purchase a ticket for them with mine.

In all cases if they billed to the card, they would just zelle me the purchase price.
