Because the ticket from YVR (or which ever airport you depart to ASEAN) is separate, your baggage would not be checked all the way through. Thus requiring being collected in YVR and re-checked in there.
As far as I know, you cannot check the baggage all the way to final destination in ASEAN starting in the Maritimes if you're flying on separate tickets, particularly if they're different class levels.
Not correct, AC will through check AC to AC on separate tickets.
