The AMEX lounges have certainly lost some luster, in my experience, mainly due to the overcrowding and/or the often long waits to get in. Yes, I can join the queue on the app, but it can be annoying. When they first came out, I spent much time in the IAH and PHL lounges and they were great. Now that they are 'discovered', 'hip', 'trendy', or whatever the overcrowding is a bummer. The food at AMEX is still usually better than regular UA lounges but UA is upping their game a bit.

I use DCA fairly often and really enjoy the United Club and as an aside, always see someone 'famous' there (usually a politician, which is part of my business now) but fun nonetheless.

To digress even more I also enjoy the AA in E, but not their others. My biggest UA complaint at DCA is just overcrowding in the gate areas when all the gates by the lounge elevator/stairs are boarding around the same time and it becomes chaos.
