I can see how it would make her day. The problem with these sorts of examples, as I am increasingly aware - and we should all try to be aware - is that whilst the person may well have been (probably was) an arse, it is entirely possible that they may be autistic, set on sharing the knowledge they have of an intense interest in aviation, and simply not recognising social cues. And it might not be easy to tell the difference.
