1h25m from T2 to T1 with a detour to check in and pick up my BP - to a flight that by then I probably will have missed.

Once the AA flight is closed (this is usually the time when you're taxiing to the runway or shortly after wheels off) Control of this ticket goes to LH. At this time you should be able to check-in online with LH.
Otherwise see a LH Transfer Desk at FRA (there should be some in Terminal 1); you should be able to clear Transit Security at FRA without having to scan a Boarding Pass. - Just make sure that you follow the signs to the Skyline-Shuttle-Train.
