Is there not a case to be made for the refurbished 787-8s to be moved to LGW? Yes they are smaller than the 777-200s but BA have long said they want to change the mix at LHR to favour more long haul flying. Therefore that leaves a few leisure routes to the Caribbean and Florida that could be operated by the 787-8s. The new config of 32J/37W/136Y would be good for these markets.
