UA’s inconsistent compensation policies are truly remarkable.
On a recent flight, my outbound flight was canceled due to maintenance, and I arrived at my final destination 2.5 hours later than scheduled. On the return flight, drinks were not catered. Additionally, one flight crew member was late, causing the gate agent to rush and fail to process the upgrade list for those who did not show up in F. I was on a B fare.
In response to the catering issue, United Airlines proactively offered $25 ETC or 1,250 miles. However, when I contacted 1K voice, the overseas agent was clueless and was unable to even verify my reservation. I then reached out to Twitter/X, where they initially offered $100 in ETC but reduced it to $75 when they saw the catering offer already in the system. Feel like a bit let down even more after going through problem after problem on this trip. Totally understand that UA is under no obligation to provided anything.
Interestingly, during a recent flight, a few members of Congress were present. One 1K guy received a $200 ETC when the cheese plate ran out when they reached our row.
