Don't make a BA booking while in France! [website country of booking]
BA's IT strikes again. I make a return booking from LHR on BA while being guilty of being physically present in France. Apart from the confirmation email being in French, all is perfectly normal.
On trying to check in, I find that my name has changed from the French "M First Last", the M being for Monsieur, to being First M Last. But my middle initial isn't M and nor does my APIS data, or my FF number suggest that.
So I call BA and sit on hold for 45 minutes while a friendly, but not very competent agent tries to sort it out. She doesn't know the French salutation of Monsieur, so keeps trying to blame me for the mistake. She then reissues the ticket for me and the new ticket won't let me check in online, so Heaven knows what will happen tomorrow at LHR. She says that BA will "this time" waive any charges for changing the ticket! I didn't have the heart to say that I had half a mind to charge BA for my wasted time, and if they tried to charge, I would take them to the Small Claims Court for incorrectly denying boarding etc.
How do French people succeed in flying BA as clearly BA's IT cannot cope with a normal French booking?
