It's really not that big a deal. Assuming they let you keep the same room, you just stop at the desk and get a new key. If you've booked different room types, there may be an issue with keeping the same room.
Has happened at least twice to me this year, Marriott Newport Bayview and RI Oakland. Possibly others - not really that memorable.
