Yeah if the booking said the resort fees were paid then you should have pushed harder and if they continued to press then tell them to take it up with the reservation payer (the travel agent - i.e. Chase in this case).

Again, this goes back to Las Vegas standard: the entire model is that a sucker is born every minute (to be clear I am not calling you a sucker.. you're a victim). I have no doubt that the front desk agents are trained to charge resort fees even if they are already paid for in the reservation, and it requires a supervisor to override (and only take it off when threatened with legal action or chargebacks). The $5 concession on the Wifi seems too contrived to be accidental: that is their small "give" to make you feel like you got a win while they still capture 90% of the resort fee.

I know that sounds conspiratorial but I have had similar attempts so many times - including resort fees that shouldn't be charged on the rate that I was paying (a corporate rate that was explicitly exempted from resort fees.. they just assume people won't care because it's OPM).
