It's really odd. AA leadership has recently been touting how they are trying to move towards being "more premium", yet they can't even seem to get the basics right.

Yes, UA has done the same with closing in airport customer service centers, but this was done in tandem with rolling out off site customer service centers where agents (separate from the phone agents) can provide live, day of travel service virtually to customers.
