The Shanghai flight gets in to LHR about 40 mins before the last LHR-MAN so they won't let you book it.
That means a hotel and a day delay.
I could get a car from Heathrow instead (saving hotel but adding car cost). I have done this 3 times and never regretted it.
But it does cost more than the hotel option.
Or I could try to find some other alternative to being trapped somewhere I don't really want to be that cost less.
I don't think coaches are going to help in this case.
The reason I mentioned them was a previous poster said they didn't want to go through London in the rush hour.
I am open to all options and all ears to the wisdom of fellow FTers on this.
That's all fine, but it wasn't really what I was responding to.
The message I was responding to was saying that they'd think about using the train rather than taking the connecting LHR-MAN flight due to the current issue with domestic arrivals. Assuming the LHR-MAN flight was on time, a delay of 20 minutes at MAN is better than having to shlep across London to take a train. And Avanti aren't exactly known for their OTP (I make a pretty penny on their automatic delay refunds).
