Great to see you back on the TR circuit st1985!

Like you, I also status matched to AF/KLM for £90 a few months ago. I'm fortunate in having BA GfL and will fly with them to Paris tomorrow, but I wanted to take advantage of Platinum status with AF/KLM. Have flown with them a fair bit on account of the convenience of where I've been heading to and from and I like their J offering. I'm on track to re-qualify for Platinum this year which is a bonus. I like the lounges in CDG but find the KLM ones in AMS disappointing with very limited food offerings and only tiny plates! AF's catering on J on short haul is as you describe and I've always enjoyed the meal on offer when I've flown J on their EDI/CDG service. Unlike BA they don't however offer hot meals on even longer European routes even on a 5 hour to TBS for example. Long haul on AF I recall a recent flight to JNB which was pretty much exactly as you described going to Bogota with excellent food and wines. KLM catering in J at least on short haul is not up to AF's standard. While AF offer metal cutlery KLM offer wooden cutlery in business, though on the 737s they have a small number of metal cutlery sets set aside which passengers can ask for (I haven't flown KLM long haul for a few years now so can't comment).

Keep up the factual, pithy and easy to read TRs st1985. happy 40th birthday and look forward to reading of your return journey.
