Wouldn't be surprised if they end up doing a retrofit when all the higher value flyers flea this route for DL (yes the true high value book J outright but thats not always an option..)

Totally agree. The top of the idiocy is wasting a resource such as the XLR on a transcon. Kinda like when they sold the TWA 757s to Delta and Delta used them to expand to Europe.
Plus UA is coming back to JFK for transcon in 2027, and they have the most generously sized extra legroom cabins of the US3. For AA, a mere 12 MCE seats on the XLR (with 6 that may have limited recline) is pretty sad.
