There is a bulkhead in front of the seat. You will not be face to face with a flight attendant.
But during taxi, takeoff, and landing, they open up a panel in the bulkhead so that FAs can see the cabin (for safety reasons). So the passenger in 1D does see the FAs. I saw a flight review with photos where the reviewer said it was awkward to be looking at the FAs during those times.
