My 81 year/old mom is planning on coming to visit me next week and is very worried about travel due to all the stories about ATC, government shutdown, etc and I tried to talk her down - I also have some upcoming travel on UA in which scheduling is tight.
While I really dont want to get into the politics of all of this and we have heard of a few isolated examples - like BUR last week if I recall - short of the media hype - how much of a problem is this?
- beyond the usual weather and typical hiccups that we see this time of year.....

do we want to start of thread (like this) to track places that are having real problems as I get the sense that the hubs are doing ok - well, EWR is it's baseline......
