Had an absolutely excellent stay here on points - 228,000 points for 5 nights, booking the cheapest room.

Asked if we could upgrade at check-in (was willing to pay if needed) because I wanted a balcony on the Gulf side - they basically gave us the best room in the hotel, at the end of the corridor with a separate bunk-bed room. This would've been $550 a night whilst we were there, or $900+ in peak. The room feels bright and airy with amazing views and the lovely sound of the sea.

It's a really attractive hotel built in a 'lodge' style, not too big or 'resorty'. Beautiful views from both sides, albeit if you have a park side balcony then you'll have lots of road noise outside and no sunshine. But still a nice view!

A new, bigger pool is being built, so that will be much better for next summer. The state park is amazing for walking and cycling around, the beach is immaculately white with chairs and umbrellas to hire. You can also borrow the free bikes from the state park using an app which is fun, they're parked outside the hotel.

Nearby pier that locals use to fish, but also has a bar on it. The hotel restaurants provide good food, heavy on seafood. We used our $30 daily credit mainly in the bar in the evening! The nearby town, Gulf Shores, has a good selection of casual eating like diners, tacos, burgers etc, though don't expect fine dining. Eat loads of Parlor Doughnuts of course!

I think this this is an excellent value choice for a beach vacation, much better than most of the Florida resorts, and way better than Marco Island which I visited last year with high expectations but found a bit bland.

Hit me with any questions if needed!
