Don't get me wrong - the space itself is quite nice but the food is disappointing. (Maybe we've been spoiled by the two previous Netherlands hotels which basically served a full dinner each evening.) Service starts at 1800/6pm, which seems a little late. Wine is out earlier and beer seems to be available all day. The food service space is very small. Tonight there were two hot items and soup. Wife said the vegetable soup was interesting; I did not have it. The only food was some chicken samosa things and veggies in a spring roll style wrapper - both deep fried. There were also some decent warm bread rolls but absolutely nothing to put on them - no meat, no cheese, not even butter. There were no salad-like items (e.g. veggie sticks and dip, etc.) or anything similar. Dessert was some pear flan thing, which I liked but the wife said should have been chocolate. Elite breakfast is in the restaurant.
The reason we stayed here was it was appreciably cheaper than any other Bonvoy hotel in the city and is right on the train line to our next destination, Luxembourg. I would stay elsewhere if my business or pleasure was in Brussels proper.
Thanks! Marriott it is then!
