For me, I am trying to decide if the hiked fee is worth it. Since I can't use any of the coupons since I don't live in the US, the only way for me to recoup the hike is via Edit. So I need to save $250-$500 a yr by doing what I would already do, not getting a discount of a higher priced purchase than I'd normally make.

As a lifetime titanium and Hyatt Globalist, I already get free breakfast etc and can stay at relatively priced hotels or high end ones. The Edit hotels in HK are like $1000 USD, BKK also crazy higher than what I would normally spend.

I would not normally stay at Opposite House in HK or Siam in BKK. I'd do HR BKK and whatever is reasonably priced in HK.

So for me, Edit doesn't work in any place I've looked except maybe 4 Seasons in BJ or Langham in Shenzhen.

The credit only works if you are willing to spend at those ultra luxury hotels anyway. I'm not because I have much cheaper but adequate options at Hyatt or Marriott usually.

So yes, I need that $250 to justify holding onto the card. A huge proportion of my spend Is buying plane tickets vis ctrip. Getting that 3x was worth it but I've lost it. It's better in China to book via ctrip than direct through the airline, the opposite of say Expedia and direct in the US.

I've already add RC Chase and Ink Preferred to maintain 3x and Chase lounges/PP. But I'd like to keep flagship card.

If I can use Editz that'll be the deciding factor. I'll try to use before end of year, and then twice in January before my renewal comes up. If I can, I'll keep card. If not, then I'm out.
