Northwest is correct, but the flights initially used 727-100s, NW's smallest aircraft before the Republic merger.

Flights continued on to both MKE and MSP. New Orleans is a major agricultural export terminal, so I wouldn't be surprised if Cargill, which is headquartered near Minneapolis, was a major user of the flights.

This route was originally awarded to Eastern in 1969, but EA was unable to compete with Delta, and flew it only briefly. In their CAB filing to take over the route, Northwest said their break even load factor was ten points less than EA's was, so they could make a profit at traffic levels where EA would have operated at a loss.
