As long as you avoid direct booking channels, you can avoid this whole mess. I think the distance based choice and avoiding booking direct will be the logical choice for the vast majority of fliers. Funny how they’ve gone from hard pushing their awful engine to almost fully restoring earn rates as long as you avoid direct bookings. This rollout has been a roller coaster.
Incentivizing travelers to book
INdirect, and to book partner metal when there's a choice, is exactly the opposite of AS' business interests
They swung the pendulum so far toward capturing and rewarding credit card spend that they are tossing out a long-time loyal cohort of customers who actually fly the airline
