Colour me surprised. Got a reply from HA saying they will cover the expenses for hotel, meals and transportation and then shortly afterwards the payment came from Alaska.
Then this morning I woke up and had $500 HA travel vouchers in my inbox. No explanation, but must be related to the cancellation. So big kudos to HA here. Antiquated process, but maybe that lowers the number of claims so they actually respond to the ones they get :-)
