API for Dual National UK/Europe

Hi folks,

We are dual national British/Polish and have passports from both countries, but we live in the UK, and we are flying LHR-WAW tomorrow. In Poland, dual nationals must enter and exit on their Polish passports. In the UK, dual nationals must enter and exit on their UK passports. My question is to do with API for British Airways: which passport should we provide? My concern is that if we put in the wrong passport we might end up being denied boarding.

- For LHR->WAW I believe we need to have the Polish passport in the API, because this information is sent to the Polish government, who are aware that we are dual nationals, and if they receive our British passports they may think we are trying to break their rules.
- For WAW->LHR I believe we would need to change to have the British passport in the API, because otherwise in Warsaw they will see that our Polish passports don't have an ETA (and of course we don't have a visa or settled status in the UK as we don't need them).

There are no problems whatsoever at the borders of either country (we simply present the passport of whichever country we are exiting or entering, which is legal and correct). However, with API I simply am not sure what to do. I'm even more concerned now that EES is in play, and this will become even more complicated in future when the European ETIAS system comes into play!

I telephoned BA and they were unable to help -- they said "look on gov.uk for an official answer". I can't seem to find a definitive answer there, or on the Polish government's Websites.

Can anyone point me at a definitive answer? Is my approach above reasonable? Is it even possible to change the API for the return flight?
