Widely rumoured for a while it's great to see what I think is Virgin's first foray into South East Asia, and hopefully the start of a new focus. From the trade release:
Virgin Atlantic Launches Nonstop Flights from London Heathrow to Phuket________________ From 18th October 2026, Virgin Atlantic will start seasonal services to Phuket, three times a week to Thailand’s largest island and a captivating destination, on a Boeing 787-9. It will be the only direct route between London Heathrow and Phuket, making luxury winter escapes that much more accessible. There’s also advanced connectivity through our Bangkok Airways partnership leading to endless Thai adventures in Koh Samui, Krabi and beyond. This expands our developing winter sun portfolio which includes Dubai, The Maldives and most recently Cancun. Phuket has a diverse culinary scene and attractions to offer travellers, from the Golden Buddha at Wat Khao Rang to the vibrant streets of old Phuket town offering a mix of sun, culture and adventure. Flights on sale from 26th November 2025.
