My question is, there is a new growing tech start up scene in Singapore and to a much less extend HK is trying to incubate one, these two cities are primarily financial hubs and Seattle and LA are definitely not world finance centers. How much corporate traffic are there to those cities if as you said, by Microsoft and Amazon, originating from Seattle? Let's not forget, in Asia there are other competitors to Amazon and Microsoft. Amazon is, to put in bluntly, irrelevant Asia.
Even 10 years ago, the 1,000 employee company I work for had offices with 2-3 employees in Singapore, HK and several other major cities in Asia. While we were not in need of financing and we were not in search of a new market for our products, the connections that the finance people in those cities to innovative products and ideas were essential to advancing the products we were developing. They also have a lot of connections to major tech companies in Asia which can be very helpful.
