The SFO/LAX-HKG flights have generally been easy upgrades for the most part for a couple of years now. I'm guessing the upgrades to HKG are going to become less common w/ increased booking of people w/ connections to BKK/SGN.

I guess easy upgrades are good for travelers, but not UA, and thus are temporary
