It is not impossible but AS decided many years ago to discontinue special meals and it is only in more recent years that we even have pre-flight ordering options. For an airline that can't spit out a bag tag from a kiosk today, and completely collapsed a few days ago, be glad there's food. I do wonder what Worldwide Global Carrier AS is going to offer in the SPML department, because right now, there's almost nothing. Look at HA's offerings on international - a choice of VGML, VLML or GFML. Nothing on domestic.

I feel "fortunate" (even if disappointed) if one of the AS options has something I don't want to push away. The ideal solution (upthread somewhere) is to have an available protein addition that the crew can plop on the plate - such as LATAM does with its entree salads - usually veg with an add shrimp or chicken or lox option. Finding an AS crew that would want to go to such effort to take tongs and do that is a different story.

I do find it surprising that an airline with (once upon a time) so much California transcon flying doesn't regularly have a vegetarian option. Maybe that's how the company answered the complaints. We'll just cancel the flights!
