If you are looking to retain BA Gold status via spend, booking via BA Holidays might be a better option in future as you get points for your full spend (split between the persons on the booking). This could be as simple as flights plus one night in a hotel (there is a dedicated FT thread on this!)
Yes - we have used this on other trips (wasn't possible on this one for a couple of reasons) and I'm sure we will do so again before March. I need another 8500 nTPs and my partner only needs 5000, so on one of the trips we might look at booking a BA holiday for me and a separate flight for her so that I get the full hotel revenue to my account.
