Also, I seem to have trouble booking online with both the "fully refundable" and "upgrade" options - as soon as I say I want to use a mileage upgrade, it seems to pull up the lowest (nonrefundable) fares even if I selected fully refundable, because the prices shown are lower than what gets shown if I check the refundable box (when selecting the mile upgrade option, it also won't show you the fare rules so it's not possible to confirm directly). Is there a way to force the website to show only refundable fares when trying to book with an upgrade?

The miles automatically redeposited to my account but the CC charge did not for a cancellation I did a couple of months ago. Finally got round to contacting United (via email) and within a couple of days the copay was refunded. I am wondering how many copay were not refunded for past cancelled flights. Verify you receive the refund f the copay.
