Ba248 - eze-gig-lhr

Another pretty poor show from BA.

The EZE-GIG part is as bad as or worse than the GIG-EZE part and should probably find its way to some bit of criminal law if there was justice in this world. You are "offered" an empanada. It's not just that it's much less good than even any random supermarket empanada you'd find in Argentina, it's probably worse than even a random supermarket empanada you'd buy in the UK and had enough salt in it to probably put you on course for life long blood pressure medication! The accompanying "couscous and lentils" salad (the same as on the next segment pictures below) is probably the worse side salad I have ever had on BA and goodness knows that there is pretty tough competition on that front. Disgusting through and through.

The GIG-LHR part looked promising because it sounded a lot more Brazilian, but the delivery was frankly disappointing. Starter was prawn with hearts of palm and "passionfruit ceviche" (nowhere to be found). It was quite good with large prawns, not enough heart of palm and some forgettable tainted mayonnaise dressing.

The mains were poor though. Choice was between grilled beef fillet with chimichurri (given BA's form with steaks on board, I gave that a miss), a vegetarian bobo with yucca and heart of palm (normally bobo is fish based , can be nice, but like a "super carb" feast) or a moqueca with pirarucu (a very ugly looking Amazonian fish) which is what I ordered.

Now moqueca is normally quite a nice fish stew with palm oil, coconut milk, and mild seasonings. In this case though, it missed the stew part or the coconut taste or indeed any seasoning. The fish tasted distinctly "muddy" which was not nice. Rice was ghastly as was the farofa, essentially, deep fried manioc flour which in this case had no taste but certainly delivered on the "deep fried" part.

Dessert was a tiny but good bread and butter pudding.

Breakfast had a fruit plate which felt like it got "burnt" in the freezer (shame) and I tried the pancakes with pineapple, dulce de leche (not much of it) and toasted coconut which were very dry.

I'll spare you the 15 hour flight without wifi working, seat not reclining properly and disgusting state of the cabins and seats.
