Booked One King Standard Room. Received One King Standard Room.

Newer gen HIX. Rooms still generally in good shape.

What was good and what was bad?

Good

• Good rendition of the standard US HIX breakfast including fresh fruit.
• Complimentary Coffee and Tea available 24x7 in lobby.
• Good location for staging trip on the way to Shenandoah National Park. Hotel is approx. 30 to 40 minutes to the Swiftwater Gap Entry on Skyline Drive.
• Lots of restaurants available in the mixed use complex where this property is located.

Bad

• Parking lot is a little convoluted. They put up bollards segregating a section of the lot for the adjacent Hyatt Place. You could still drive around the building to get to that section; however, there were warning signs about being towed if you weren't staying at The Hyatt Place. I believe The Hyatt Place was built later and likely a sister property operated by the same management company. I'm fine with some of the spaces being allocated to the other hotel; however, no reason to make ingress/egress for the HIX parking circuitous. The posted warning signs should be enough.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Point cost was okay but not stellar. It was a last minute booking, so I can't complain. I wanted to use IHG points for this trip rather than Marriott points and this property fit the bill well. Location for Shenandoah access is great. I would happily stay here again if the price was right for future trips. There are multiple Marriott options in the same area (as well as many other chains). So I will be price sensitive when choosing a hotel for stays in this area.

P.S. I am sure rates will go through the roof when there is a JMU game. My stay was a Thursday evening and that wasn't an issue.
