Holiday Inn Express Philadelphia Midtown

What is your Priority Club status?

Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes, second stay this year. This continues to be a solid property

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked One King Room. Received One King Room.

How are the rooms?

Dated rooms that are well maintained. AC works well. Rooms are very spacious, especially for a city location.

How is the exec. lounge?

N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good
  • Location - Hotel is in the heart of midtown in easy walking distance to many good restaurants, City Hall, Reading Terminal Market, and good access to SEPTA
  • Good rendition of the standard US HIX breakfast including fresh fruit.
  • Complimentary Coffee and Tea available 24x7 in lobby.
  • Reasonable parking rate ($39/day including tax) for adjacent parking garage with in/out privileges including some self park spots.
  • Generally friendly and helpful staff
  • Front desk staff correctly linked my 3 consecutive one night stays (combination of points & FNA's) so we didn't have to check in and out every day,
  • Front desk was able to make change this time.
Bad
  • Minor quibble, I noticed my IHG Welcome Amenity Points hadn't posted. I inquired about them at checkout and they said the system showed them and should post within a few days. Of course the points never posted. I reached out via IHG chat after my stays had posted and they were quickly able to post the missing welcome amenity gift points.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

For both points and cash stays, this property usually has very reasonable rates for Midtown Philadelphia. You just need to plan a bit in advance to get them. Bottomline, as long as your okay with a well maintained, older property, this is a great hotel. I would gladly return when I have similar requirements in the future.
