Bought the GF a TravelPro
Style: 401229930
Description: Maxlite® Air Large Check-In Expandable Hardside Spinner. I think on the 2nd use (TransAtlantic), it damned near disintegrated (cracked on side), so she had to toss it in Europe, and buy new luggage on the spot in Barcelona. Once I got home, I contacted TravelPro and they replaced the bag under warranty.
The first time she used the new bag, one of the side feet fell off, leaving 2 sharp screws protruding where the foot once was. This happened months ago, but we just noticed it, as she was packing for a recent trip to Europe. Again, she bought another bag for our trip (she had already given the bag she bought in Barcelona to her son).
Once we returned, I did a warranty claim with TravelPro, along with photos (shown). They said they'd replace this foot, but only for $25 shipping plus tax. This foot weighs next to nothing, so while I can afford $25 plus tax, it seems excessive for what is apparently an $0.18 part that is quite light.
I tried to convince the GF that TravelPro makes a high quality product with a good warranty. She is convinced that they make a lousy product with a lousy warranty.
Any other thoughts or suggestions? Can I get this part cheaper elsewhere?
