Hi,

Looks like an excellent location and if you visit in late december then you can still see the christmas decorations along George street ( some beautiful lights and wreaths wrapped around large pillars outside some buildings) as well as the Christmas market down on East Princes street gardens around the Scott Monument close to the hotel.
preparations will also be ongoing for the Hogmanay celebrations and party on 31st December ( plus some events the days before)
