AF A350-900 48J config - no AC power outlets in Premium Economy
Forgive me if this is discussed elsewhere but I am utterly perplexed that this isn't bigger news. I'm currently on Air France flight AF334 CDG-BOS in premium (a modest cash upgrade on a Y award ticket), and there are no standard AC power outlets anywhere in the cabin. The crew was surprised by my surprise (although apparently the other configuration of the A350 has outlets at each PY seat)... but thankfully the crew offered to charge my laptop in an empty/broken business seat, which was a good solution. There is only USB-A and USB-C charging at my seat.
Maybe I have gotten too accustomed to flying J/F, but I was under the impression that traditional power outlets (for keeping a laptop charged) were a fairly standard expectation for a premium economy product... if not at every seat, at least one per bank of seats.
To me a primary factor in paying for a better-than-basic seat is the ability to get work done... how can one work on a laptop for 7+ hours without a power outlet? (I don't think you can functionally charge a laptop via USB-C, and AF doesn't allow the use of power banks in flight, right?)
