I have to write this review immediately after the Crowne Plaza review because both hotels were oddly similar and my memory, just a few hours after leaving it, was already a bit unclear. There is nothing attractive about the location of this hotel whatsoever, an industrial site under perpetual construction not too far from the airport. I managed to get here by jumping on a public bus outside the Crowne Plaza (no. 98 to its end) then a short walk to another stop to pick up the 771, which was rather horrible (apart from being a boneshaker, the driver and the people on it were seriously undesirable). Like the Crowne Plaza, this hotel was a bit past its prime, although you would need a sharp eye to pick out the details (it's the usual frayed carpets and scuffs, as well as the decommissioned meeting rooms). Visually, the reception and public areas were attractively decorated with old electronic devices on display, such as a cine film projector and record turntable. Again, this hotel was very busy but there were plenty of areas to sit. When I had an Italian wine at the bar later I thought that the Crowne Plaza one was nicer, although both were busy and very noisy.

I was allocated once again what was clearly a standard room which was very good quality. Once again there was a lot of desk space and nice, firm pillows were provided for the bed. Maybe they do read my profile after all. I ended up doing nearly 3 hours work on the largest desk (there were two). This time there was a distinct lack of storage space, but I was travelling light so it was fine. A mini bar was present in the fridge (I never use those) and bathrobes were offered - but no slippers here. The bed was very comfortable, a shade better than the Crowne Plaza IMO, but I had a short night due to catching an early flight the next day. The bathroom was a bit strange and truly dated from another era, with the toilet jammed up against the sink (who designed that???). The shower was better than the Crowne Plaza though, and the water pressure and temperature were good. In the lobby a vintage photo of the hotel showed me how old it was, with the vintage cars all around it.
