Hi all,
I've recently encountered a very weird situation with my Chase United Club Business card. One of the benefit that is advertised for the United Club Business card is "upto $100 TravelBank credit" for booking a car rental with Avis or Budget through the cars.united.com link. The terms states that it has to be a minimum 2 day rental, that it has to be booked with specific discount codes that are applicable on cars.united.com and that the payment has to be made with the United Club Business card. So back in July, I had made such a reservation with Budget (I have an email from cars.united.com that verifies the rental with the appropriate codes). The rental was completed and paid with the United Club Business card and I even have a receipt that proves that. However, I was supposed to receive the $50 in TravelBank (terms states that it can take 6 to 8 weeks and its already past that). Incidently I also recently procured the United Quest card that gives $200 in TravelBank each year and I got that deposited into my account within about a week of opening the card. Now back to the $50 TB credit for the car rental on the Club Business card, i've contacted Chase multiple times and the first time they said i need to wait a full 8 weeks. After that the second time I called, they opened an issue and sent me a letter saying they could not find any promotion about getting a "statement credit" (so apparently whoever investigated it didn't even understand what the issue was). Then I called in again explaining that i'm inquiring about the advertised benefit on their own damn website (I had to walk the CSR to the Chase website and point him to the exact benefit details. He then got me a supervisor and the supervisor "escalated" the issue and told me that I'll get a resolution within a week. Well two weeks passed and I called again and this time, the "other supervisor" told me that their "research team" did the research and have determined that because I had received the $200 TB credit for the Quest card, I am not eligible for the $50 TB credit for the Rental because there is a maximum $200 limit on the same MileagePlus account. Now that just sounded total BS to me. If that were actually the case, then even on the Quest card, there is a similar benefit which is for $40 per rental with $80 max per year and the Quest card already gives $200 TB credit, so there is no way that there would be a $200 TB limit (otherwise no one would ever receive the stated benefit on the Quest card.
I'm at a complete loss about how to deal with this. I just wanted to check if anyone has ever encountered any such situation? Also on a somewhat side note, I seem to recollect that there is some travel blog where they advocate on behalf of users (when it comes to problems with miles or points with airlines or hotel or credit card companies) but I can't seem to remember it so if anyone knows what i'm talking about, I would appreciate if you can PM me the blog name.
