But what you describe sounds a bit odd. Maybe they didn't understand you wanted to "load" money to your Discover checking (I've had to use that phrase to get the CS rep to select/choose the right options).
Although I've had a few times where (depending upon the CS rep, usually it's the new ones) ask for my phone # and then tell me I'm "not in the system". Dunno know why they ask for it, but then they ask if I have the card? I vaguely recall there was a way with Discover to generate a barcode or something in the app, but I never did/do that.
Hopefully it's not a new "thing" they're rolling out.
Thanks for the reply - both of these places I've been to before and had no troubles (even with the same csr). If I had to pin it on something I did differently, it's possible I said "I want to load my checking..." instead of " I want to load my
Discover checking..." as I was going to attempt multiple accounts, since they are friendly there.
At the first location I tried, I asked if I could try a different account after we were having trouble with the discover account. So, I input my OnePay card and transaction went through as normal. Even tried both p1/2 Discover cards after and still never got past the spinning wheel and the "company ID" prompt.
I ended up contacting Discover and there was nothing going on that they could see, so they suggested just waiting and trying again later.
I'll give it some time and then try for a MC next and see if that makes a difference.
