Of course they will tell you that as it says so clearly in the T&Cs so it's obviously a waste of time to call and ask them. So does it say the same in the T&Cs for the following Amex credits and they work anyway: Lululemon, Saks, United TB, etc. Everyone buys gcs and gets the credit, no problem. You're not supposed to call and ask if it works, you're supposed to try it and see if the credit is triggered anyway despite GCs being excluded.

I tried a purchase yesterday as well and it's still pending just as "Stubhub" so I'll give it a few days and see what happens. I did see DPs on reddit saying that the credit was received for gcs so I decided to take the risk as well and will post back with results.
