Well you haven't lost anything because all the initial answers here also suggested it was a no.
But it is well known that telling someone yes and then telling them no later is much worse than just telling them no in the first place. So pretty poor show from BA here.
I agree. Do you think it’s worth a complaint? It won’t fix it but they should give some avios.
