I find that on the ex-CX aircraft J is OK, and I haven't tried Y or PE.
There are many annoyed passengers on the AirNZ Complaints FB group who detest the ex-CX aircraft for Y and PE. Sure, perhaps they could have paid closer attention to the aircraft they were flying in, but nevertheless it is clear that the Y and PE experience is sub-par compared to NZ's usual aircraft.
Indeed, knowledgeable pax will be aware that they can asked to be re-routed free if there is a change to the ex-CX aircraft:
Customers who do not wish to travel on these aircraft have the following flexibility options:- One free of charge change: Customers wishing to change their travel to another Air New Zealand operated service on the same route may receive one free of charge change. For travel in a higher cabin class additional collection will apply. For any subsequent changes to their booking, standard fare rules apply.
- Refund or Credit: For customers wishing to refund or hold their ticket in credit – standard fare rules apply.
- In all cases, please endorse changes/refunds with "SKCHG due Dry Lease"
